  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

  • Stir in the molasses until well combined.

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll chilled dough into 1-inch balls, coat in remaining sugar, and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake in batches for 8-10 minutes, until tops are cracked.
  • Cool cookies on wire racks before serving.
