Equipment

  • Pizza Stone
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Pizza Peel
  • Wire Rack
  • Parchment Paper
  • Damp Tea Towel (optional)

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup warm water (105 degrees F)
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 to 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour *
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt

Instructions

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit (260 degrees Celsius) with a pizza stone inside, allowing it to warm for at least 10 minutes.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar, then stir until well mixed.
  • Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes, or until it becomes frothy and bubbles begin to form on the surface.
  • Gently stir the olive oil into the yeast mixture.
  • Add 2 cups of all-purpose flour and salt to the bowl, mixing with a spatula until a sticky dough ball starts to form; add more flour as needed to achieve a workable dough.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it until smooth, incorporating up to an additional ½ cup of flour if required.
  • Optionally, cover the bowl with a damp tea towel and let the dough rise for 10 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Roll the dough into your desired pizza shape and place it on a piece of parchment paper.
  • Evenly add your favorite pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings onto the rolled-out dough.
  • Using a pizza peel, carefully transfer the topped pizza to the preheated pizza stone in the oven.
  • Bake the pizza on the preheated stone for 11-14 minutes, or until the bottom of the crust is golden brown.
  • Remove the pizza from the oven with the pizza peel and cool it on a wire rack for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure your oven and pizza stone are fully preheated to achieve a crispy crust. The optional rise time can enhance flavor and texture. Feel free to adjust flour quantity during kneading to reach a smooth, non-sticky dough consistency.
