Equipment

  • Oven
  • Pizza Stone
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Parchment Paper
  • Pizza Peel
  • Wire Rack
  • Damp Tea Towel

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup warm water 105 degrees F
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 to 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour *
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt

Instructions

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit (260 degrees Celsius); place a pizza stone inside and let it warm for at least 10 minutes.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar, then stir them together.
  • Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy and small bubbles begin to form.
  • Gently stir the olive oil into the yeast mixture.
  • Add 2 cups of flour and the salt, then mix with a spatula until a slightly sticky dough ball starts to form, adding more flour as needed.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it until smooth, incorporating up to ½ cup of additional flour if necessary.
  • Optionally, cover the bowl with a damp tea towel and let the dough rise for 10 minutes or up to 1 hour.
  • Roll the dough into your desired shape and place it onto a piece of parchment paper.
  • Add your chosen pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings to the dough.
  • Using a pizza peel, carefully transfer the prepared pizza to the preheated pizza stone in the oven.
  • Bake the pizza on the hot stone for 11-14 minutes, or until the bottom of the crust achieves a golden-brown color.
  • Remove the pizza from the oven with the peel and transfer it to a wire rack to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Adjust flour as needed to achieve the right dough consistency. While optional, a short rise can enhance flavor and texture. Ensure your pizza stone is thoroughly preheated for a perfectly crisp crust.
