Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Floured surface
  • Damp tea towel
  • Parchment paper
  • Pizza stone
  • Pizza peel
  • Wire rack

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup warm water (105 degrees F)
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 to 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt

Instructions

Making the Dough

  • Preheat oven to 500°F (260°C), placing a pizza stone inside to warm for at least 10 minutes.
  • Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large mixing bowl and stir them together.
  • Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy and bubbles appear.
  • Gently stir the olive oil into the frothy mixture.
  • Add 2 cups of flour and salt, mixing with a spatula until a sticky dough ball forms; add more flour as needed.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it until smooth, adding up to ½ cup extra flour if necessary.
  • (Optional) Cover the bowl with a damp tea towel and let the dough rise for 10 minutes to an hour.
  • Roll the dough into your desired shape and place it on a piece of parchment paper.
  • Add your chosen pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings onto the dough.
  • Use a pizza peel to carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone in the oven.
  • Bake for 11-14 minutes, or until the bottom crust turns golden brown.
  • Remove the pizza from the oven with the pizza peel and cool on a wire rack for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Adjust flour as needed during mixing and kneading for the desired dough consistency. Ensure the pizza stone is adequately preheated for a crispy crust. Allow the pizza to cool on a wire rack for 5-10 minutes after baking to help set the cheese and prevent sogginess.
