  • damp tea towel
  • pizza peel
  • wire rack

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup warm water 105 degrees F
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 to 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt

Instructions

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 500°F (260°C) with a pizza stone inside, allowing it to warm for at least 10 minutes.
  • Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large mixing bowl and stir well.
  • Let the mixture rest for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy and bubbles appear.
  • Gently stir in the olive oil.
  • Add 2 cups of flour and salt, then mix with a spatula until a sticky dough ball forms, adding more flour if necessary.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead until smooth, using up to ½ cup additional flour if needed.
  • Optionally, cover the bowl with a damp tea towel and let the dough rise for 10 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Roll the dough into your desired shape and place it on a piece of parchment paper.
  • Add your choice of pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings to the dough.
  • Use a pizza peel to carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone in the oven.
  • Bake the pizza on the hot stone for 11-14 minutes, or until the bottom crust is golden brown.
  • Remove the pizza from the oven with the peel and place it on a wire rack to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

The dough may be slightly sticky; add flour as needed during kneading. For best results, ensure your pizza stone is thoroughly preheated. Allow the pizza to cool on a wire rack before serving.
