  • Spatula
  • Damp tea towel
  • Pizza peel
  • Wire rack
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water 105 degrees F
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 to 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt

Instructions

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C) with a pizza stone inside, allowing it to warm for at least 10 minutes.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar, stirring well.
  • Let the mixture rest for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy and bubbles appear, indicating yeast activation.
  • Gently stir in the olive oil.
  • Add 2 cups of flour and the salt, mixing with a spatula until a sticky dough ball forms; incorporate more flour as needed.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it until smooth, adding up to 1/2 cup extra flour if necessary.
  • Optionally, cover the bowl with a damp tea towel and let the dough rise for 10 minutes to 1 hour for a softer crust.
  • Roll the dough into your desired pizza shape and place it on a piece of parchment paper.
  • Add your chosen pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings.
  • Use a pizza peel to carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone in the oven.
  • Bake for 11-14 minutes, or until the bottom crust is golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the pizza with the peel and cool it on a wire rack for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

The flour amount may vary slightly based on humidity; adjust as needed until the dough is smooth but not overly sticky. For best results, ensure your water is around 105°F for optimal yeast activation. Using a pizza stone helps achieve a crispy crust.
