Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup warm water 105 degrees F
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 to 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C) with a pizza stone inside; let the stone warm for at least 10 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar, stirring until mixed.
  • Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy and bubbles appear.
  • Gently stir in the olive oil.
  • Add 2 cups of flour and salt, then mix with a spatula until a sticky dough ball forms, adding more flour if necessary.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead until smooth, incorporating up to ½ cup more flour if required.
  • Optionally, cover the bowl with a damp tea towel and let the dough rise for 10 minutes to 1 hour.

Baking & Serving

  • Roll the dough into your preferred shape and place it on parchment paper.
  • Top the dough with pizza sauce, cheese, and your chosen toppings.
  • Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated pizza stone using a pizza peel.
  • Bake on the pizza stone for 11-14 minutes, or until the crust's bottom is golden brown.
  • Remove the pizza from the oven with the pizza peel and cool on a wire rack for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

The amount of all-purpose flour needed can vary; adjust as necessary to form a smooth, pliable dough. Ensure your pizza stone is thoroughly preheated for at least 10 minutes to achieve a crispy crust.
